Summary

Security agencies say more than 300,000 personnel from four forces have been mobilised under an integrated security plan for the March 5 polls. High-level briefings to the prime minister and Election Commission indicate no major nationwide threats so far, though localised tensions and misinformation remain key concerns.

Over 300,000 personnel on election duty

Security officials have briefed national leaders that more than 300,000 personnel from the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and National Investigation Department are being mobilised across the country under the Integrated Security Plan for the 2026 election. Many of these forces are already deployed in sensitive districts, with additional reserves on standby for quick response.

Prime Ministerial and Election Commission meetings in recent days have reviewed the overall law-and-order situation. According to participants, the security situation is generally described as satisfactory, with parties able to campaign and hold rallies in most constituencies. Isolated clashes and local disputes have been reported but are not considered systemic threats.

Security agencies have also set up dedicated information technology cells to monitor online spaces for hate speech, calls for violence, and election-related disinformation. Officials say the priority is to deter attempts to intimidate voters, disrupt polling or spread panic about booth capture and violence. Voters are being urged to report incidents to local administration and to rely on official channels for sensitive security information.
