Official Analysis

Nepal’s constitution guarantees universal adult suffrage, and election laws specify that all citizens who are 18 years or older and properly registered on the voters roll are eligible to vote. There is no provision that restricts voting rights to people under 30 or to participants in any protest movement. Recent Election Commission documents and voter roll data show around 18.9 million registered voters of all age groups. While the Gen-Z movement has influenced political debate and youth mobilisation, it has not changed the age threshold or criteria for voting. Claims that older citizens cannot vote are therefore false and risk discouraging lawful voters.
