"The Election Commission has completely banned political content on social media during the 2026 HoR campaign."
This dossier summarizes the strongest available evidence and weighs competing claims.
Official Analysis
The 2082 Election Code of Conduct does not impose a blanket ban on political content on social media. Instead, it restricts specific behaviours: spreading false or hateful information, inciting violence, misusing children in campaigns, abusing government resources, and publishing content that unduly affects communal harmony or the integrity of the election. Parties and candidates are still allowed to communicate policies, respond to voters and run digital campaigns, provided they follow these rules and clearly identify sponsored content where required.
Describing the situation as a total ban on political content exaggerates the restrictions and may discourage legitimate civic debate. The reality is a regulated, not prohibited, digital campaign environment.
