Official Analysis

Multiple outlets citing official Election Commission data report that the final closed list for the proportional representation system contains 3,135 candidates from 63 parties. Of these, around 1,772 are women and 1,363 are men, meaning women constitute a clear majority of PR nominees, not less than one-third. Rising Nepal, Annapurna Express and Ujyaalo Nepal all quote EC figures showing women outnumbering men on the list, even though one Khabarhub story gives a slightly lower female number. While the true test of inclusion lies in who ultimately gets allocated seats, the specific claim that women remain below one-third of PR candidates is not supported by the EC's published figures.
